Taksin Park, Chanthaburi
Do not be confused with Thaksin, the ex-prime minister; Taksin refers to the Siamese king in Thonburi era. Due to the fact that he was a leader of the east coast when the country was split into six parts, Taksin was a beloved King among local people in the area of Chanthaburi, Rayong, and Trad. He had established the army in Chanthaburi and drove the Burmese out of the country. After that he was crowned the King of Thonburi. Taksin Park is a shady and plesant park. The big pond contains most of the area in the park which is used as a nursery for Chanthaburi Fishery Department. In the middle of the pond stands King Taksin the Greats Memorial.
